The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has recently implemented a new visa category which is open to foreign nationals who are seeking entry to the UK for purposes connected with the 20th Commonwealth Games.

The Games are to take place in Glasgow from the 23rd July to the 3rd August 2014 and individuals can now apply for a Commonwealth Games visit visa in order to enter the UK and prepare for the Games.

The visa allows multiple entry to the UK, with a maximum stay of six months for a single visit and it can be valid up to the 3rd September 2014.

Applying for a Commonwealth Games visit visa

You should apply for the Commonwealth Games visit visa through the UKBA”s online application system.

However, if you are unable to access the online system you can apply using form VAF1C.  Applicants should state on the form that they are applying for a ‘Commonwealth Games visit visa’.

As part of the application process, a letter from the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee must be submitted, which confirms the applicant”s role in relation to the Games.  Each applicant will also need to submit their biometric information at an appointment, unless an exemption applies.

The UKBA will release more detailed information regarding the visa application process soon and we will provide an update when available
