UK Passport Renewal in the UAE

British nationals in the United Arab Emirates are now able to apply and pay online for passport renewals and replacements due to new rules implemented on 29^th January.  The new service allows expatriates to track the progress of their applications, although processing times will remain unchanged. Supporting documents will also still need to be couriered to the UK, where they are processed by the Liverpool passport office.

Applicants were previously required to fill in a paper form and send it the UK. It is now expected that the new online service will make passport replacements and renewals more efficient for applicants based in the UAE. As the online system is still in a beta version, some changes may still be made to the form dependent on user feedback.

Expatriates in the UAE can access the online application system at https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports/y/united-arab-emirates and follow the on-screen instructions. Expatriates based elsewhere in the world can check whether an online or paper application form is required by entering their location at https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports.
