We currently have an opportunity for a solicitor or OISC registered consultant with a minimum of 3 year's experience to join our growing team. Working from our London offices, you will be mostly responsible for managing and overseeing the visa application process for the UK, providing complex advice to both corporate and private clients, as well as supporting the existing team with current caseloads.

This role will allow you to work within, and learn from, a busy team of experienced and knowledgeable professionals who are from a combination of law firms, world renowned global immigration consultancies, ex-Government bodies, and specific industry backgrounds.

Duties will include but will not be limited to:

Carrying out volume Global casework as assigned with direct liaison with the client, including case initiation, case assessment, providing advice on applicable rules and procedures, case preparation and submission, monitoring progress and follow-up on completion. Cases covered will include a range of corporate and private client applications in multiple jurisdictions.

Disseminating complex information and conducting research on relevant country information, rules and laws to provide clients with a coherent and structured immigration solution and strategy.

Providing clients with excellent service (in accordance with company or client specific service levels), responding to email and telephone enquiries in a timely manner and ensuring that advice is comprehensive and accurate.

Assisting with the provision of immigration training to the global immigration team on various topics including but not limited to country practices, change of rules in different jurisdictions and latest immigration policies in various countries.

Monitoring application deadlines and completing assigned work within the appropriate timeframes. Also, monitoring visa expiry dates and alerting the client appropriately.

This role offers the opportunity to join our growing immigration practice and to learn from our busy Southwark team. Your colleagues will be experienced professionals who are from a combination of law firms, world renowned global immigration consultancies, ex-Government bodies and specific industry backgrounds.

The role itself encompasses a variety of tasks relating to the general running of a busy office including reception tasks, using a range of office software (including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) and internal databases as well as supporting Immigration Consultants with all their organisational and administrative needs. It is a great way to understand the workings of an Immigration firm from the ground up and is designed to help you develop your career.

Duties will include but will not be limited to:

Assisting with file opening, closing and archiving of completed immigration files. Ensure electronic files are archived on a weekly basis, managing the clearance of backlog as required.

Assisting with the preparation of visa application packs for submission in the UK and to British Embassies/ High Commissions overseas.

Completing on-line and paper-based government application forms, as directed by the team.

Answering phones obtaining initial information from callers and passing on to Immigration Consultants as appropriate.

Taking details of new visiting clients and adding them to the case management system.

Scanning all client documents and saving them into the relevant shared folder; always making Consultants aware of such documents.

Job Overview

The Canadian Immigration Consultant provides clients with highly personalized services to ensure seamless coordination of immigration solutions that are tailored to meet the client expectations. Assist clients with navigating the application process, ensuring documents are accurate and complete prior to submission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as dedicated point of contact to clients, providing highly personalized services that meet client needs. Takes ownership of client relationship and provides clients with informed advice that reflects best practices and compliance. Conducts regular review of accounts, assists with training for corporate clients
  • Maintains strong working relationships with clients through proactive communication. Demonstrates initiative in resolving client issues and provides solutions.
  • Assist with business development as appropriate including involvement with seminars, webinars, internal and external networking events etc.
  • Understands various types of non-immigrant and immigrant visa petitions and applications. Adheres to immigration legislation, regulations, and policy, and stays abreast of industry trends and changes to legislation. Researches immigrations regulations and applies information as appropriate.
  • Analyses documents and prepares immigration applications for filing with the appropriate agency. Drafts petitions, applications, and support letters.
  • Manages case files and creates processes that ensure timely submission of documents. Initiates quality control measures to ensure complete and accurate application; monitors all files to ensure timely submission of documents.
  • Documents information in secure database, ensuring data integrity and appropriate records retention schedule.
  • Be able to thrive in a team environment as well as be a self-starter.

Education and Experience:
  • BA/BS with strong academic credentials. One to three years’ experience; commitment to customer service.
  • Highly desirable: immigration or paralegal experience; paralegal certificate or immigration specialist certificate. Motivated individual with desire to learn Canadian/global immigration process.
  • Fluent in English with exceptional communication skills; ability to articulate legal information in easily understood terms. Confident in verbal communication skills. Applies communication method that best matches situation.
  • Proven ability to deliver information effectively in a variety of written formats including reports, letters, memos and emails; strong proofreading skills.
  • Exceptional problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Solutions focused with excellent attention to detail; commitment to building and maintaining processes.
  • Ability to handle high volume case load while maintaining high level of productivity.
  • Self-starter with desire to show ownership and commitment to role.
  • Must be a member in good standings with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council.
